READ INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY AND FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY
Auditions will be on Wed 8/31 between 5-9pm in the music house at 212 Clay Street.
Please be prompt for your audition time.
You will have to sing TWO selections: (1) one cover song (assigned), and (2) one 60-second solo of your choice (original or cover, your choice).
COVER SONG: Prepare the FEMALE or MALE cover selection posted below. There are two posts below for each, one to play each song, the other to download it. Your assignment is to copy the vocalist exactly as they appear on the recording, concentrating on accuracy, intonation and style.
INDIVIDUAL SOLO (your choice): Prepare a 60-second selection of your own choice, demonstrating your vocal ability, range, and style.
You will sing both the assigned cover song and your individual solo unaccompanied (a cappella).
Auditions will be closed, with only the individual student and directors present.
Report to Hayes 205 on Fri 8/26 at 2pm. Dancers who have 2pm dance rehearsal may arrive at 3:30pm. All individuals wanting to audition must arrive before 4pm.
We will hear people on a first-come, first served basis.
A separate beatboxer & vocal percussion audition will be held at callbacks. If you are primarily a beatboxer, please also audition as a vocalist or instrumentalist.
Please prepare two original 16-bar verses. Bring a written copy of the verses with you.
If you choose, you may also freestyle 16+ bars about a given topic, over a 90 bpm drum track.
Bring two 60-second beats, to be played on your own device. An aux cable and speaker will be provided.
On the evening of Friday 8/26 we will post a callback list with further instructions for those we'd like to hear again.
